WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Policy

1. Policy Statement

​

ROX Electrical Services is committed to complying with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (as amended) and to reducing the environmental impact of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

We aim to ensure that all electrical waste generated through our business activities is managed, stored, transported, and disposed of safely, responsibly, and in accordance with UK legislation.

2. Scope of This Policy, This policy applies to:

​

  • All electrical and electronic equipment supplied, installed, removed, or replaced by Rox Electrical Services

  • All waste electrical equipment generated during electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, or upgrade works

​

3. Definition of WEEE

 

WEEE includes any electrical or electronic equipment that is waste, including but not limited to:

  • Lighting equipment (e.g. luminaires, LED fittings, control gear)

  • Consumer units and distribution boards

  • Switches, sockets, and control devices

  • Smoke alarms and detectors

  • Electrical accessories and components

  • Cables and wiring

  • Electrical appliances removed during works

4. Our Responsibilities

 

Rox Electrical Services will:

  • Identify electrical and electronic waste produced during works

  • Prevent WEEE from being disposed of with general waste

  • Store WEEE safely to prevent damage or environmental harm

  • Ensure WEEE is transferred only to authorised waste carriers

  • Use licensed recycling or treatment facilities

  • Comply with all applicable environmental legislation

5. Customer Electrical Waste

Where electrical equipment is removed from a customer’s premises as part of contracted works:

  • We will inform the customer of how the waste will be handled

  • WEEE will be taken off-site where agreed and disposed of responsibly

  • Alternatively, customers may choose to retain removed equipment

Any charges associated with disposal will be clearly communicated where applicable.

6. Recycling and Disposal

 

All WEEE handled by Rox Electrical Services is:

  • Recycled or treated at approved WEEE recycling facilities

  • Managed in line with duty of care requirements

  • Disposed of using licensed waste carriers only

Where required, waste transfer documentation will be retained in accordance with legal obligations.

7. Producer Responsibility

 

Where Rox Electrical Services supplies new electrical equipment to customers, we ensure compliance with producer responsibility obligations under the WEEE Regulations, either directly or through suppliers who are registered with an approved producer compliance scheme.

8. Storage and Handling

 

WEEE is:

  • Stored securely to prevent damage or leakage

  • Kept separate from non-electrical waste

  • Handled in a manner that protects health, safety, and the environment

9. Environmental Commitment

 

Rox Electrical Services is committed to:

  • Reducing waste generation where reasonably practicable

  • Promoting reuse and recycling of electrical equipment

  • Supporting sustainable waste management practices

10. Review of This Policy

 

This WEEE Policy will be reviewed periodically and updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation or business practices.
